These chemicals are easily detected by termites / white ants, which makes them excellent for providing protection on treated places. However, in the event the treated locations aren’t fully covered, or if they later get compromised, then termites can sense these breaks and once again access the building.

The often widely applied repellent is Bifenthrin, which has a residual effectiveness of up to five years.

Non-Repellent Chemicals

Termites don’t detect these repellents. As a result, they do not avoid the treated areas, and as a result are killed after they have exposure to them. In addition, individual termites can pass these chemicals on to other colony members, creating a compounding effect.

Above Ground Systems may be used to eliminate termites from buildings by placing bait stations at the site of activity, so they begin to feed on the bait matrix rather than the timber they were consuming. Worker white ants then return to the colony and feed the bait to other colony members and so a compounding effect is achieved.
